If you arrange for us to monitor your trademark, we will monitor the trademark registers throughout the year, to check where applications are submitted for similar trademarks. If this is the case, you will receive a message from us with brief recommendations on the steps to be taken.

An important reason for having your trademark monitored is that you will be aware of applications for similar trademarks at an early stage. That gives you an opportunity to file a notice of opposition to the new application during the opposition period, if required. Opposition is a relatively low-cost official procedure with which you can prevent the registration of a trademark. If your trademark is not monitored, you will miss the chance to start opposition proceedings and can then only take action via (costly) legal action.
