Floor Stijns

Floor has been working at Chiever since March 2022. Her enthusiasm for intellectual property law began during her Bachelor’s degree, when she studied abroad at Luiss University in Rome as part of the Erasmus program. “Helping creative people protect their ideas as best as possible” was, for Floor, an inspiring area to focus on as a legal professional. Before joining Chiever, Floor spent five years working as a trademark attorney at AOMB. There, she assisted clients in various fields of intellectual property law, including trademark, design, and copyright law. Floor is a trademark attorney known for giving sharp, honest advice with a good sense of perspective. Outside of work, Floor loves to travel, enjoys listening to (live) music, practices boxing as her favorite sport, and has recently started singing again.

Favourite brand: Because of my specific affinity with food law and because of being a “foodie”, it has to be a food brand. How cool is it that Oatly recently managed to register a slogan as a trademark in the EU?!
The sentence “IT’S LIKE MILK BUT MADE FOR HUMANS” in its entirety raises questions about our social norms. For this reason, the sentence is memorable and distinctive and it means that the sentence crossed the line of being sufficiently distinctive and thus became a brand! An important matter for trademark owners and from my personal interest I think it is nice that this phrase is rewarded with a trademark.
